Mile 12: LASG,Trader Agree On Market Relocation


The Lagos State Government and all traders in the crisis-ridden Mile 12 Market on Wednesday agreed that the market should be relocated from the area and that the government should ban commercial motorcycle operation
 in the area.

The agreement was disclosed at a news conference by the leaders of the market and officials of the state government at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, Ikeja.

The conference was attended by Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olatunji Bello, Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, and Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde among others.

Speaking at the conference, the Financial Secretary of Perishable Foodstuff Association at Mile 12 Market, Alhaji Shehu Usman, said the traders had resolved and agreed to work with the Lagos State Government to enhance peace in the area.

He said the traders had agreed to work with the government to ensure ban on the use of okada as a means of commercial transportation in the area because of their flagrant disobedience to traffic laws in addition to causing road accidents
