FG earmarks N500bn for social intervention- VP Osinbajo

tAs part of measures to deal with the rising spate of insecurity across the nation, the Federal Government has earmarked the sum of N500 billion as social intervention fund The disclosure was made Wednesday in Abuja by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, at a Round Table on Vulnerable People in Insurgency and other Conflicts in Nigeria’.



 The Conference was put together by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA), in honour of the missing Chibok girls, whose whereabouts since April 14, 2014, when they were abducted from Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, have remained a mystery.

Osinbajo, who used the occasion to restate the Federal Government’s commitment to the rescue of the 217 girls, also charged states and local governments on the need to pay more attention to basic and secondary education, which are their basic constitutional responsibility.

The Vice President said the interventions by the federal government, will help in tackling poverty and other challenges, which make society vulnerable to social ills.
