Lagos Set To Pass Land Grabbing Bill Into Law To Become A Crimnal Offence

Land grabbing is set to become a criminal offence in Lagos state as members of the State House of Assembly at its plenary yesterday July 19th, passed a bill seeking to criminalize the act. The bill which was passed after the third reading, prohibits forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties; violent and fraudulent conduct in relation to landed properties in Lagos State. The bill has been sent to the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for his assent.


 The Speaker of the state house of assembly, Mudashiru Obasa in his submission, stated that the passage of the bill into law will give sanction to any individual who is culpable of the offence.
