President Buhari’s Health: Over 60,000 Christians Embark On 7-Day Fasting And Prayers In Katsina

No less than 65,000 Christians in Katsina State, have begun seven-day fasting and prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari ’s quick recovery.



The Katsina state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) announced that the prayers would be offered at Mountain of Fire Church at Kofar-Kaura, Katsina and in six other Churches. CAN said the prayers would be concluded next Sunday at St. John’s Anglican Church, Katsina.

While speaking to journalists on Monday, CAN Chairman in the state, Rev. Nelson Onyeka Chukwu, listed the other Churches as Church of God Mission, Calvary Baptist, ECWA, St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, and C&S, Dutsin-ma road, all in Katsina.

According to Chukwu, the decision was in recognition of the good works the President started for the country. He said; “We are praying for our President’s quick recovery because of the good works he had begun for the country.”

Similarly, Muslim faithful in the state and Daura Emirate Council also offered prayers for the President’s quick recovery.

Last Saturday, no fewer than 50,000 youths in Daura, Duara Local Government in the state held rally in solidarity for the President’s administration.

However, as President Buhari’s health condition remains an unnecessary controversy and mystery to the average Nigerian, reports coming in from London indicates that members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s household have continued to evade reporters in London insinuating that there may be something fishy to hide.

Nigerians are beginning to get impatient with the excuses and so-called status reports on Buhari from the various organs of government that contradict his continuing absence from the country.

Some quarters have even opined that those who believe in the efficacy of prayers would be wise to ignore the government’s prayer solicitation campaign because Buhari does not deserve the empathy of Nigerians when he has evinced no concern about the health of the populace.

Specifically, questions are being asked that if the president is indeed “hale and hearty”, “witty” and in “good spirits”, why has he failed to return to the country to govern?
Several Nigerians are also questioning the rationale behind the excuses, arguing that they are untenable, flimsy and self-serving by telling the nation that the president is awaiting the results of medical tests in this technologically-driven era when his test results could either be e-mailed to him, or his doctors flown to Nigeria with the results.

Consequently, Afenifere chieftain and elder statesman, Ayo Adebanjo has said the presidency is not sincere about the true state of President Buhari’s health, alleging that the presidency is taking Nigerians for fools.

Although Adebanjo dismissed suggestions that President Buhari’s situation is similar to that of Late President Umaru Yar’adua, he praised the President for writing to the National Assembly informing them of his medical vacation.

Similarly, Chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Alhaji Balarabe Musa has urged the National Assembly to commence an investigation into the state of health of Buhari and his eligibility to continue as the country’s head of state. Musa blamed the executive for the poor management of information on the president’s treatment abroad.
