3 storey Building Collapse In Anambra, 11 Persons Trapped

No fewer than 11 persons were trapped under a three storey building which collapsed in Nnewi, Anambra in the early hours of today.

The building was located in Okpuno, Otolo, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state.

According to SP Mohammed Haruna, Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) who confirmed the incident, saying the building belongs to one Collins Avoyi.

Ekiti State APC Treasurer Shot Dead While Eating

Ekiti State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has been thrown into mourning following the murder of the State Treasurer, Mr. Moses Adeoye, Wednesday nught.

Mr. Adeoye was reportedly shot dead in his house in Otun-Ekiti, headquaqrter of Moba Local Government Area while having his supper.

The gunmen were said to have invaded Adeoye's residence at about 9.00pm and opened fire on the victim while he was eating

He was killed after being part of the town hall meetings held by Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti North and Ekiti South senatorial districts same day.

Mr. Adeoye was the APC chairman in his local government area before  he became the state treasurer at the state congress in September.

The police spokesman Caled Ikechukwu disclosed that the state command has commenced investigation into the killing assuring that the culprits would soon be nabbed.

The state chapter of the APC has expressed shock at the killing of a member of the State Working Committee (SWC)

The APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, disclosed that the state exco had paid a condolence visit to the family of Mr. Adeoye.

Ajayi in a statement on Thurssday said the state APC Chairman, Mr. Paul Omotosho described Mr. Adeoye as responsible , honest, committee party man praying that such an incident would not happen again.

Ajayi also quotes Omotosho as describing the killing of the treasurer as a "terrible blow" to Governor Kayode Fayemi, APC,  party members and the Moba people.

The APC Chairman in Moba council area, Mr. Femi Adeyeye, described the incident as a"rude shock" to all party member and people of the community.

Adeyeye urged the state government and the party not to forget the family of the slain Adeoye.

The APC delegation from the state exco also paid a condolence visit to the Oore of Moba land, Oba James Adedapo Popoola, in his palace in Otun-Ekiti, on the killing of the party leader.

Omotosho urged the monarch to take solace in God on the loss of a prominent son of the community saying the party would do everything possible to bring the killers to book.

Oba Popoola thanked the APC leaders for the visit nothing in the incident has created an injury in the hearts of the people of the town that would take time to heal.

Senate Asks CBN To Suspend ATM Card Maintenance Charges

The Senate has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to look into suspension of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) maintenance and withdrawal charge by banks.

This was after a motion on "illicit and excessive charges by Nigerian Banks in customers accounts" was raised by Senator Gbenga Ashafa during the plenary session on Wednesday.

A former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), 13 former governors and seven ex- ministers have been barred from travelling out of the country under Executive Order 6 (EO6) issued yesterday by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The restriction followed the judicial affirmation of the constitutionality and legality of the Executive Order 6 (EO6).

PDP Rejects Travel ban on 50 High Profile Nigerians

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the placement of travelling restrictions on 50 high-profile Nigerians.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the party gave the rejection in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, on Saturday in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan described the restriction as a ‘draconian step’ clearly targeted at members of the opposition parties, business community, religious leaders, former political leaders and traditional rulers, perceived to be averse to President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid.

Four Notorious Pick Pockets Arrested With Stolen Laptop Under Oshodi Bridge Lagos (photo)


Lagos Task Force officials have arrested 4 notorious pick-pockets operating under the Oshodi bridge.

The hoodlums were today nabbed the moment they snatched a laptop from a woman identified as Mrs Adebambo.
The suspected identified as 21-year-old Ojo Olomo, 25-year-old Ola Akinwunmi, 22-year-old Nurudeen Okiki and 20-year-old Damilaro Balogun have been charged to court.

Lagos Task Force Chairman, Egbeyemi Olayinka said the suspects specialise in snatching valuables like laptops, phones, necklaces, wrist watches and earrings from innocent citizens.
