Corruption In Oil Secter Responsible For Fuel Scarcity- Tsav

MAKURDI - Former Lagos State Commissioner of Police , Alhaji Abubakar Tsav has attributed the unending fuel shortages being experienced in the country to high level corruption in the oil industry.

Tsav who made the assertion Monday in Makurdi cautioned that the situation was becoming a source of embarrassment to the government and people of Nigeria.

He alleged that "an oil cartel in the country is frustrating government's concerted efforts to address the issue thereby inflicting hardship on Nigerians and embarrassing the country.

"I urge the government to take decisive action to address the situation by taking steps to expose the cartel and the masterminds of this embarrassment so as to sanitise the system.

" Tsav who regretted that high profile corrupt individuals were still walking freely in the streets despite the anti-graft war of President Muhammadu Buhari, maintained that the fight would only be commendable when those indicted of looting the treasury were sent to jail.

"You go to our prisons and see petty thieves who stole handsets that were eventually recovered, serving long jail terms while those who stole our commonwealth are walking the streets as free men.

"I do not even subscribe to plea bargain because that will depict clearly that our democracy is like animal farm where some animals are more equally than the others. My position is that those who stole should be punished."
